Black light theatre is special kind of theatre based in Prague, Czech Republic.
* All of the performance is about magic. The actors and everything around them is flying, appearing
and disappearing and breaking physical rules.
* We do this with our special theatre technique based on the “UV effect“ – dark, special colors and
black actors.
* Our group is formed of black light artists with their experiences from all kinds of theatres in Prague.
The idea was to put all the powers together and use our different experiences in one group all together.

Black Light Theatre (in Czech černé divadlo) or simply ‘Black Theatre’ is a theatrical
performance style that is characterized by the use of black box theatre augmented by black light
illusion.
This form of theatre originates from Asia and can be found in many places around the world. It
has become a specialty of Prague, where many theatres have adopted this style. The distinctive
characteristics of ‘black theatre’ are the use of black curtains, a darkened stage, and ‘black
lighting’ (UV light), paired with fluorescent costumes in order to create intricate visual illusions.
